Dear Visitor,
"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love." Hamilton Wright Mabie
Welcome to Q Solicitors last e-newsletter for 2010. We launched our very first e-newsletter in July, and hope that you have it enjoyed so far.
Christmas TraditionsLike many of us, Myles has some very fond memories of his childhood, and as we rapidly approach Christmas, he reflects on some wonderful old family traditions. In particular, Myles recalls his Mother making Christmas pudding with each child given a task in the baking process, whether it be cracking an egg, adding a six pence or stirring the mix. Needless to say, it was Myles' wish to replicate this tradition at a recent Christmas event. See details below. Q Christmas PartyApproximately 40 clients, colleagues and friends of Q Solicitors gathered at the IGA Delicatessen, New Farm, late last month for the firm's annual Christmas Party. Whilst being an opportunity to celebrate the festive season, it resulted in the production of a "delicious" donation for a charity in the area. Q Solicitors principal Myles Murphy said that, as well as having a celebration, he wanted to replicate a family tradition where the whole family participated in baking a large Christmas cake. David Kindt of the Hopper Group, which owns IGA, helped Myles realise his wish by shutting the store early and arranging for prominent chef Graham Horvath (AKA The Romantic Chef) to provide a cooking demonstration at the New Farm IGA Delicatessen. While party-goers watched on, sipping wine and enjoying the delicious cheese platters and canapes from the delicatessen, Graham demonstrated the art of cooking a traditional Christmas cake and invited each party guest to add an ingredient or two and stir the mixture.

Santa Claus (AKA Geoff Bowden) adds a little bit of Christmas magic to the mix Santa Claus dropped by to give each person an individually wrapped and decorated mini - Christmas Cake to take home, which Graham had made earlier - complete with a sixpence. The Q Solicitors' Christmas cake has since been donated to the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity to serve to the homeless and less fortunate at their annual Christmas party this month. Refer to last month's newsletter for more information relating to the valuable work performed by the Missionaries of Charity and how you can assist.

The greatest compliment you can pay to someone is to refer them to your family, friends and business associates. I have confidently referred people from each of these categories to Myles and without exception each of them has been as pleased with the referral from me as I was some 20 years ago with the referral from my friend.
I am thrilled that I ‘found' Myles back in the early 90's and am proud to have him as a lawyer and a friend.
